Dukan Diet: Travel Tips

May 4, 2010 in Advice, Cruise Phase by Mel

Following the Dukan Diet when traveling is not that easy. It is what I discovered during a short break in Spain. But here are a few tips so you have an easy time following the diet when you ar on the road.

Pure Protein ahead of the trip

If you are on the Cruise Phase and you plan to travel for 5 days or less, choose the option of eating Pure Protein for 5 days before you depart. It will allow you to do 5 days of Protein + Vegetables when you travel and will male it easier for you to find food allowed in the Dukan Diet.

Cooking facilities

If you have the possibility, get a place with cooking facilities. When you get food prepared by someone else in a restaurant, it’s almost impossible to make sure that things are cooked the Dukan way.

Bring your own snacks

Airport food, like the food in motorway restaurants or train stations is mostly junk. Prepare your snacks so you’re not tempted to eat non Dukan Diet food. For snacking, I cooked the oatbran pancake in three small pancakes and had some with some smoked salmon, 0% yoghurt, a lemon slice and dill, and others with chicken and 0% yoghurt with indian spices. It was yummy.

Attack Phase: More varied that we thought

April 26, 2010 in Attack Phase by Mel

We’ve just received this recipe book (in French!) Les Recettes Dukan and we now realise that the recipes for the Attack Phase of the Dukan diet are far more varied than we orginally understood from reading the Daily Mail articles.

Here are some of the recipes we didn’t expected to see  listed in the “Protein only”recipes section:

  • Quiche
  • Pizza au thon (Tuna Pizza)
  • Cheesecake (Not something we ever expected to see on a diet program!)
  • Meringues
  • Pain au Surimi (Crabstick Bread)

After two days of, let’s be honest, unispired cooking on our end with beef steaks, yoghurts, salmon fillets etc. the recipes listed in the book show that we’ll be able to eat in a much more varied manner that we had expected!

So wish us luck ……
